Skipper, I have been fascinated by the Revelation of St. John the Divine since I was a child and have spent a lot of time reading and trying to understand it. It is important to remember that the term revelation is what an Apocalypse is. Apocalypse does not mean the end of the world at all, as so many suppose. I have formed the opinion that the very graphic and terrifying descriptions of the Seven Seals is tied to an ancient oral history of a real event in the distant past. One could not imagine a better description of a comet impact on the Earth, but only in recent years to we understand what this would look like. It would look exactly like the description given us here. right down to the Sun as black as sack cloth and the Moon appearing as blood, flaming mountains falling into the sea, hail of fire. It is perfect. Just something to ponder. With best regards and due respect.

I wasn't discouraged until I read this and found out how disallusioned I really was... I quit! :)

Nah, but a couple days ago, Aaron and I were trying to guess what percentage of my friends who went to Bible college are still in full-time ministry.

First, we guessed that most of the ladies married pastors (not a role to be taken lightly)... then we made the following assumptions on guys that went to Bible college with us. We think:

- 3 out of 4 graduates went into full-time ministry (church or parachurch)
- 1 out of 4 graduates are still in full-time ministry just 10 years after starting

In my relatively close circle of 10 college friends (guys and girls), I can only think of myself and then one girl who is involved in a parachurch organization.

I never knew Grandad Daddy, but I remember Grandma Gladys, and one of my memories of her from when I was much younger. My sisters and I would come in and give Grandma Gladys a hug, then rush to the candy corn and nut bowls that never seem to get empty.

I never really thought about it much before now. But I guess in some ways it can be both a blessing and a curse to have money. Maybe the poor have more blessings than the rich like it says in [bible]James 2:5[/bible].

I understand, batgirl. I remember [bible]Proverbs 30.7-9[/bible], and I don't want to fall into that trap. Some people refer to money as a good thing, i.e. "God has really blessed me". I'm wondering just what kind of a blessing that really is.

Although I have been on mission trips, I would say I am more like person 2. I take the practical road - do I have the time, the money, etc. I have prayed the same prayer as Isaiah, "here am I, send me." However, while waiting for an answer, my actions say "send me when it is convenient in my schedule."

I have some growing to do too. I need that Barbarian heart!
